How To Get An HSSOA Assessment

The only way to request an assessment is via this Google Form. If you email us a request, we will just tell you to fill out the form. Please fill out the form.

All HSSOA referees with a development rating of 3, 4, or 5 are eligible to request one assessment per season. We will do our best to conduct an assessment for as many referees as possible, but we will not be able to get to everyone.

The Development team will review assessment requests on a weekly basis. Because games are assigned three weeks in advance, we will start assigning assessors two weeks in advance but that process may continue up until the day of the game. You will be notified if you have been assigned an assessor as soon as possible – if you do not hear anything then you have not been assigned an assessor yet. There is no need to email us to ask about whether you’re getting an assessor: if you’ve submitted a request then we are working on it.

Assessments may be conducted in person or on video – your assigned assessor will contact you in advance of the match to let you know if they will be on site or not.

If you are receiving a video assessment, you must ask the home coach for a copy of the game film. Please send the home coach the following email, copying vp.development@hssoa.com:

Coach [Name],

I am emailing you to request a copy of the game film from your match against [Away Team] on [Date]. This request is part of the HSSOA Development program and the game film will be reviewed by an HSSOA assessor to generate feedback for me to improve as a referee. I appreciate your help!
