TASO in partnership with coaches and athletic directors have launched an initiative called “The Texas Way”.
It is aimed at improving sportsmanship at the middle and high school level. The program was developed by 2Words Character Development. The UIL and many coaches organizations have announced their support in a united effort to turn the current trend of increasing poor sportsmanship.
The vision is if coaches, players and officials all operate from the same concepts, the trend of poor sportsmanship could be reversed. The course is free and video based. It is voluntary and not required to be a HSSOA referee but the Board asks you to consider taking it so we as referees can contribute to the initiative through understanding the concepts from our and the coaches and players point of view.
If you would like to take it, the link here takes you to the relevant TASO page.
