Welcome Returning Referees

Q. What do I need to do to get on the dropdown list?

A. See the checklist below.

Checklist for RETURNING referees:

Get the referee registration form, already filled out for you, from your email. You can email the registrar if you can't find it. You can find their address here. Email is best, as the form has to be sent from a computer!
Fill it out completely. Don't forget to sign, and to put your SSN on the form. Do not email your SSN
Look up your fee and initial payment for assignments here.
Send your registration form and check for fees and initial payment for assignments to the registrar. You can find their address here.

Register with UIL, individually. You must complete OCP (Officials Compliance Program). The clicks sometimes change, but the procedure should be about the same. Click here for current instructions. Not necessary this year.
Take the High School Test. You can take it online at www.taso.org (click on "Member's LOGIN at www.taso.org) with your TASO ID and PW (email TASO (see contacts at www.taso.org) if you can't find your old password), or take the test during the December meeting. We are working on other solutions. Your TASO ID appears on your accounting statements.
You will get accounting statements via email. Look at them carefully to see that the information is correct. Specifically, correct your USSF grade and entry date. Update your home area, and conflict schools. PLEASE, thoroughly check your ADDRESS. Make sure that street, circle, lane, etc. are correct, and that the apartment number is there, if appropriate.
Call your assignor, and get scrimmages. These are the BEST way to refresh your high school skills. You can find the assignor's phone number and email address here.

Q. Do I have to go to meetings?

A. Meeting attendance will be mandatory again, so YES. You need to go to about 1/2 the meetings (or get an excused abscence in to the registrar within 5 days of the meeting).

1) Meet the new referees.
2) Renew old friendships.
3) Get training. This training will help you with actual field position, decisions, rules, etc.
4) Meet your assignor(s). Let them know what has changed with you.

Q. I used to be a TASO referee (Houston or elsewhere) and I want to get back in. Do I register as a "new" referee?

A. NO. You need to register as a returning referee. However the "reinstatement fee" is gone. See the registration page here. Contact the registrar for a regisitration form.

Q. Can I register with TASO, but NOT referee?

A. Yes. The TASO-S board approved an AUXILIARY membership. You will be covered by TASO insurance, but can NOT step on the field as an official. All assessors, assignors, etc. MUST be at least AUXILIARY members.

HAVE A GREAT SEASON.
