Obtaining COPE certification requires some patience but, in the end, took about an hour. There are a few potential issues for HSSOA members including adequate software to handle the video and questions. Also, it appears the training is offered only in English.

YOU MUST SEND (Email is preferable) a copy of the UIL certificate to the Regisitrar of HSSOA before games will be assigned. PDF995 (www.pdf995.com) can be used to capture the electronic certificate as a PDF file.

The steps include:

· Open the HSSOA web site. www.hssoa.com. Go to the UIL site by clicking the UIL logo on the 'Interesting Links' page

· On the UIL opening screen, there is a link to the COPE Program shown along the right side of the page.

· The first COPE page offers a single option, a link to the COPE Gateway

· The following menu is shown in the COPE Gateway :

• If you already have a UT EID and password: Logon now.
• If you do not have a UT EID, or if you believe you may already have a UT EID and password, but need assistance, use the UT EID Self Service Tools

· Clicking on 'UT EID Self Service Tools" to get a password and login

· Working through several profile pages will result in obtaining the EID and selecting a password

Note: The password set-up that allows a password hint. Make it useful!

· With an EID and password, the next step is to back out of the UT system and return to the UIL gateway

· Clicking the Login now will eventually lead, after preparing a contact profile and selecting UIL job categories (such a Official - Boys Soccer AND Official - Girl's Soccer), to the COPE training page and its four modules.

· Training takes 30 minutes to 1 hour.
